Swig Sugar Cookies

So I am obsessed with Pintrest! I love all the inspiration it brings and just about anything. Who KNEW there was a 101 different uses for toilet paper rolls! I’m mean REALLY!? I think that’s awesomeness!

I found a awesome recipe called SWIG COOKIES. It’s a sugar cookie with sour cream icing. Now these cookies are ADDICTING! They are simple to make and aren’t overly sweet. I like eating them with no icing but the girls loved the pink icing.

I had the girls help and as we all know every little kid loves to make cookies. The girl who made this recipe has a little shop in her home town that these cookies are given with each order for free! How cool.

The link to the recipe and to the store behind the cookies is here.

Toughest Weather City Championship

Who knew my little town would win a nation award. Now given, there are plenty of places that get extreme weather however for the past 3 years it has been nuts!
Weather Channel did a little competition between all the cities in the U.S. for locals to vote on their own city having the most extreme weather.

Well when Lubbock made it to the final four I though that was as far as we would go concidering the other three cities:
Fargo, ND
Fairbanks, AK
Caribou, ME
These cities get feet of snow, hurricanes, extreme heat and so on. So to think that Lubbock would then make it to the final two I was excited!

Toughest Weather City Championship Result
Fairbanks, Alaska                                 vs.                   Lubbock, Texas
- Extreme cold, snowy, mild summer                             - Wind, snow, F5 tornado in 1970
- 114 days of subzero cold                                            - Drought-prone, dust storms
- 65" of snow                                                                  - 8.1" snow, 7 days w/ snow
- 90+ heat once every two years                                  - 85 days of 90+ heat

After a ton of voting, the poles closed and results were given:
Whose weather is toughest?
Fairbanks, Alaska 34.15%  (4,498 votes)

Lubbock, Texas 65.85%  (8,672 votes)

There were a total of 13,170!
Here are a few pictures of the past three years of extreme weather here in good ol’ Lubbock, TX:

The babies

Since Addi is in school, the little girls have been getting a lot of attention. Let me just say that these girls are such a joy. They love each other but like most sisters can fight and annoy each other, which to be honest is kind of funny sometimes.

My Sydnee is such a sweet-heart. Since she is 4 and her speech isn't very good we will be taking her to speech therapy to help. She is so smart and does know what things are but has a hard time pronouncing them which does cause frustration for both her and I.

I just love this picture of her at the playground.

Kim kim is something else. She definitly knows that she is the baby and gets away with it. She's bossy to her sisters, she has attitude, but she loves sitting with me and Aaron watching movies, being sweet, and is just plain silly.

Who doesn't like bubbles?!

They both have thier daddy's smile.

Yes, she dressed herself that day.

PEACE, LOVE, MUD

This summer I was asked to join a mud volleyball team for charity. The charity is to help prevent school drop-outs and support the surrounding schools and community. What a great cause to support! The event is every August and this year it was held Buffalo Springs Lake.

Our Team name was 'Mud In Mud Out' Must of us work at AT&T and were very pumped that morning.

Of course, I picked number 5 for my girls and my name was 'Chica Loca'

This was after our first game (which we played a total of 5)

Me and one of my besties Natalie

Let me tell you, it is not easy to play in mud and water. This was our last game, we had lost all 4 before this one.

Aaron surprised me and brought the little girls out to watch and play in the mud.

Needless to say they had a blast getting dirty!

I didn't realize how muddy we got until the pictures were uploaded.

We were starting to get pretty down that we hadn't won a game all day and then our last game we kicked some butt and won! We had a team mud fight, some adult beverages, laughs, and a great Saturday!

Tiger Royals

My baby brother Carson had his very first football game today. We all went out to support him and the Friendship Tiger Royals. Watching these little guys play is super fun and cute. He still has some learning to do but he did try 100%

He plays as a safety and here is a picture with his coach.

Picture isn't so great since they were staring right into the sun and it was 80 outside.

Aww there he is number 80 waiting to play. They won 18-6 woohoo!

Again, I am so proud of Carson and I'm really excited to watch him every game this season.

1st Grade

My sweet Addison started 1st grade this year.

I so love her humor and imagination. Here she is as a robot.
It seems like it was just yesterday that she was a sweet bright eyed baby and now she is becoming such a big girl :)

Yep, we have to get a goofy 'first day of school' photo.

Before I know it she will be in High School!

Super Hero Addi! Where does she come up with this stuff? LOL

Holiday Planning in July

Yes, I know I am about 5 months early however with working full time, 5 little ladies, and a tight budget I need to get my ducks in a row. Of course since I have found the amazing world of Pintrest the ideas are flowing!

This year for the girls we are going to do clothes since they have wwwaaayyy too many toys to begin with. Aaron is a little more tricky but I will get that figured out lol. For friends and family Im going to be doing some homemade gift baskets because personally I think that is more sentimental, don't you?

For the past few years, I have done a friend's Thanksgiving the beginning of November and this year will be no different. I like to be the one that not only hosts but I love doing the majority of the cooking. Of course, this year Aaron has convinced me to just do the turkey, stuffing, and potatoes and have everyone else bring the other dishes. This should help with the 'Holiday Nazi' I always become. Hey, what can I say, I love hosting and have being able to entertain. (I most get that from my Nana)

I've also decided to do a Ladies Only Cookie Exchange the beginning of December. I love the idea of exchanging recipes, eating finger foods, and of course WINE!

Here are some ideas I've found on Pintrest already:
Pinned Image

Just cut a cream cheese block on the diagonal to have the pieces to make a tree shape. Then add some bell pepper decorations and some pepper jelly (and Wheat Thins of course), and you have acute appetizer!
Christmas Tree Cheese

Applesauce & Cinnamon Ornament/Gift Tags. Super fun and they smell amazing!!

I'll be doing a weekly Pintrest finds so stay tuned!
